Ryan Garcia vs. Javier Fortuna results: Garcia knocks down Fortuna multiple times in Ko win

All week long, there were questions regarding which Ryan Garcia would show up against Javier Fortuna. Fortuna stirred the pot by calling out Garcia's skills. Garcia took that personally.

In front of family and friends, Garcia beat Fortuna via sixth-round knockout. Garcia fought like a hungry shark, thanks in part due to the guidance of trainer Joe Goossen.

Garcia took down Fortuna three times, showcasing the power for which fans have come to know Garcia. This was following a delay in the fight (it was originally scheduled for 2021) for Garcia to focus on his mental health.

Large Radish

He used that as motivation, not a crutch. In the fourth round, Garcia knocked Fortuna down with a body shot. In the fifth, he landed a counter shot to the face, attacking all over. In Round 6, Garcia landed a huge left hook to the head that took down Fortuna for good.

According to CompuBox, Garcia landed 79 out of 236 shots (34 percent) while Fortuna landed 24 of 115 shots (21 percent). Garcia landed single-digit shots twice, while Fortuna never landed double-digit shots.

The knockout was Garcia's 19th. Fortuna, a former WBA (Regular) super featherweight champion, is now 2-2 in his last four fights.

After the fight, Garcia called out WBA (Regular) lightweight champion Gervonta Davis for a fight that has been years in the making. He also said he will record all of the negotiations so that there are no "twisted" stories about how the meetings went.

"I'm not going back down to 135 pounds for nothing, but I will fight Tank next at 140 pounds," Garcia told DAZN's Chris Mannix during the in-ring interview. "I'm going to record all the negotiations so you can’t say I'm ducking. . . . That fight’s going to give me the respect I deserve." When Mannix pointed out that Garcia and Davis fight on different networks, Garcia replied: "Where there’s a will, there’s a way."
